5+ Tips and Mommy Hacks for Throwing a 4th Birthday Party
Alright, Mommies before we dive right into some super cute and creative 4th birthday party ideas for girls, let’s first go over some really helpful tips and tricks.
The things I wish someone would have told me before trying to throw my daughter a 4th birthday party this year!
1) Plan this birthday party at least 3 months ahead.
This gives you time to get your finances in order before the party as well as gives you another time to plan out everything instead of freaking out as you get closer to the day of the party.
2) Have a backup plan!
Even though I planned out my daughter’s 4th birthday party 3 months prior, my original party event company literally canceled less than 7 days before my daughter’s 4th birthday party!
3) Have at least three event party companies in mind, as well as a DIY Plan (just in case)!
As I mentioned, the party company I have planned on using for my daughter’s party was canceled days before her birthday! Leading me to having to find another party event company last minute for a bounce house, and DIY the rest of the party myself!
4) Start prepping your decorations at least a week before the event!
If you have to DIY any part of your daughter’s 4th birthday party, make sure to start before the event. This could be, DIY signs and decorations to popular princess-themed games like Pin the Tiara on Princess!
5) Get creative with food and dessert ideas!
Just because you’re throwing a 4th birthday party, doesn’t mean it has to be over-the-top expensive and full of high-end ice cream! Get creative by baking your own cupcakes or cake at home or pick up a cake from Publix (like I did) because let’s be honest, If you are doing this by yourself you are not going to have the energy to do it all yourself! Also, don’t shy the idea of ordering pizza for the party as well!
6) Bonus:
I think this is the most important one when it comes down to the whole planning process of your daughter’s 4th birthday party— Picking a theme that isn’t too unique/rare because it will be super hard to find decorations to match the theme of your “party to the T.” I’m not saying don’t go with a creative and unique party theme, just try to incorporate popular decoration options in your party.
For example, I decided to go with a “Four Ever Young” theme for my daughter’s 4th birthday party. This theme required me to pick my own color scheme and literally pick either groovy-related items or summer theme items, which was a bit all over the place. But, I made it work, but if I could go back and choose differently, I would pick a Frozen theme!
Learn from my mistakes, If you choose a less popular 4th birthday party theme, either have an event planner do all the work for you, Customize all your decorations, or conduct a deep background search of your chosen theme to see similar options and what possibly someone else has done with it.
How to Choose a 4th Birthday Party Theme For Your Four-Year-Old Princess
Alright now that we’ve covered the tips and tricks to throwing a 4th birthday party for your little girl, let’s dive more into how to pick the right theme for your daughter’s 4th birthday party:
Consider this when picking a 4th birthday party theme for your little girl:
1. Consider her interests, personality, and hobbies – Does she like fairies? Or is she a true mini-fashionista? Is she a big fan of animals or does she love all things sparkly and magical (princesses and unicorns)? Is she into the movie Frozen or is she more of a Barbie girl?
2. Think about the colors you want to use: Do you want the party to have a particular color scheme? What colors does your daughter like?
3. Consider the time of year: Does your daughter have a favorite season or holiday that you could use to inspire the theme? Or does her birthday fall during the summer months of the year? Keep in mind, the temperature as well. Will this party be indoors or outdoors?
Once you have answered these questions, it’s time to get planning!
